ICL is entirely virtual and is powered by the Cyberbit SaaS platform. You can compete remotely from any location, providing that you have a proper Internet connection and connectivity to the Cyberbit platform.

Yes! We have some cool prizes for our winners and branded 12 oz Symmetry Tumblers with Bamboo Bases for the top-20 teams.

This a team competition. Round one is an individual cyber lab challenge where teams advance according to their highest combined scores and round two is a team effort where teams face a live-fire exercise. Winners are determined according to the highest team scores.

It is held twice a year; in March and October.

You can email us at icl.collegiate@cyberbit.com with any questions you may have. During the event we will have support teams available to address technical issues about the platform and how to use it. You will also be able to ask the support team questions throughout the day via a Zoom link. If you have a question, connect to the link and someone from the support team will assist you.

Once you have been nominated by a school leader, you and three other students will receive an email with a link to the registration form. The four of you will comprise your team and all of you(4) must complete the registration form by March 17th, 2023 to qualify. When you register you will be asked to supply your team’s nickname so make sure you have this to complete the registration form.

You will receive a confirmation email once your registration has been processed. All four members of your team must be registered before your registration will be confirmed. Once confirmed, you will be sent a Zoom link to the opening ceremony and the kickoff. You will also be given access to the Cyberbit platform so you can schedule your first round. Slots fill up quickly, so we urge you to book your round as soon as possible.

You can register up until March 17, 2023.

The most likely reason is that all of your team members have not yet registered. For your team to qualify, all team members must complete the registration form. Another reason might be that one of your team members did not meet the eligibility requirements. Please go to our ‘Player Eligibility’ section to see who is eligible to compete.

You will receive an email invitation to the opening ceremony which will include the following:

1. Zoom link to join the ceremony and kickoff
2. Your credentials for access to the Cyberbit platform
3. Explanation of how to book your lab for round one
4. Connectivity link to check your connectivity before the kickoff and let us know if there are any issues.

After the kickoff you will take part in round one of the tournament at the time you booked. If you are one of the top 20 teams to pass round one, you and your teammates will be sent a calendar invite to round two and asked to schedule your timeslot.

Anyone enrolled in an undergraduate cybersecurity program at an institution of higher learning until at least April 7, 2023, is eligible.

You must be at least 18 years of age to participate.

To connect to the Cyberbit platform you will need a computer running a Chrome browser running on a desktop/laptop and an internet connection. A large screen is recommended but not a must. Once you have registered for the tournament you will receive connectivity test instructions to ensure you can connect to the Cyberbit platform.

Warmups can be practiced as many times as you want without affecting your score.

You will receive login details by email prior to the ICL kickoff and orientation on Zoom, March 20th, 2023.

In the first round of the tournament, students will face a series of cyber lab challenges as individuals. There will be one lab per student and each lab will last up to one hour. No scheduling is necessary for round 1. You can connect to the platform whenever it is convenient for you between the following dates: March 27th – April 14th.

In the second round, students will collaborate as a team in a “live-fire” simulation lasting up to four hours, where they will be required to mitigate a cyberattack on a virtual organization emulated in the cyber range.

Scoring is based on your ability to complete the challenges presented to you and your responses to quiz questions. Each challenge has a maximum score of 100. You will have the option to take hints. However, hints will cost you penalty points so use them wisely. In the first round, each team member will perform a cyber lab as an individual and we will aggregate the total scoring of all team members. In the finals round, you will participate in a team exercise and the platform will calculate the total score for the team based on the team’s ability to detect the correct artifacts during incident investigation, complete incident response tasks, and respond to questions at the end of the exercise.

* There is no weight given to the warmup lab scores. They are purely for training and practice.
