Designated a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity by the National Security Agency, the Cybersecurity Center of the Americas at Miami Dade College (MDC) has been transforming cybersecurity education and boosting cyber readiness and resilience since 2018. MDC’s cybersecurity program provides students and professionals with a comprehensive education, teaching them about the most recent attack vectors, vulnerabilities and exposures, and the latest defensive techniques and security best practices. The program prepares them for the crucial responsibilities of cybersecurity professionals, giving them hands-on experience that develops the technical and soft cyber defense skills needed for an ever-evolving threat landscape.
An invaluable asset to this program is the Cyberbit platform, which gives students the knowledge, skills, techniques, and hands-on experience required to respond to real-world cybersecurity challenges. Cyberbit’s cyber range provides an interactive learning environment that facilitates students’ experiential learning. Students in the MDC cybersecurity program are immersed in a virtual Security Operations Center (SOC) that includes live-networks, commercial security tools, and simulated live-fire cyber-attacks. Students hone and practice the defensive skills they have learned while responding to live-fire attacks, reinforcing their knowledge and understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices and providing the hands-on experience that SOC managers require.
The Miami Dade College – Cyberbit connection began back in 2018 and has been developing next-gen cybersecurity talent ever since. In a state that has one of the hottest cybersecurity job markets in the country, the MDC-Cyberbit collaboration consistently develops the skilled, experienced, workforce-ready talent that Florida needs.
Miami Dade College, designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) by the National Security Agency (NSA), is transforming cybersecurity education by integrating the advanced hands-on training needed to be a cybersecurity professional. Miami Dade College offers multiple pathways for cybersecurity education including a B.S. in Cybersecurity, A.S. in Cybersecurity, and a College Credit Certificate in Network Security.
Additionally, the Cybersecurity Center of the Americas at Miami Dade College, with its innovative Security Operations Center (S.O.C.) learning environment and state-of-the art Cyber Range, offers multiple continuing education and corporate training courses and programs. With a training by simulation approach —via the S.O.C.-like environment and the Cyber Range— the Center’s goal is to dramatically increase the skills of cybersecurity professionals and prepare them to meet the increasing complexity and volume of real-life cyber threats. The holistic training center provides programs for trainees of all skill levels, from beginners looking to enter the world of cybersecurity, to security experts looking to improve their skills and advance their careers.
